Change of location in Austria! Extremefest will now take place in St. Pölten instead of Henndorf/Salzburg!
EXTREMEFEST AUSTRIA GOES ST. PÖLTEN
Due to broken agreements from community policy Henndorf EXTREMEFEST AUSTRIA has moved its location to St. Pölten. There, the festival will take place on the so-called „VAZ“ area which is often used for other open air festivals and events. In the heart of Austria next to the A1 highway „west“, the location can be reached directly via the exit „St. Pölten Süd“. Camping and the festival ground are next to each other there as well and decent offers and prices for drinks, beer and food are guaranteed. Tickets already purchased for Henndorf/Salzburg will still be valid in St. Pölten and can of course also be returned. But we do hope that all „fans of the extreme“ will stick with us and the new location to have the party of their lives at EXTREMEFEST. The festival is gonna be an annual event in the festival calender from now on and together with all of you we´ll have the most extreme party of the year, that´s for sure. We are very much looking forward to it!

Looking at their band name (German for „The Path Of A Freedom“), you might be fooled for a moment and mistake DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT for a street rock act: in reality, the German band is one of the most interesting newcomers the European black metal genre has seen in quite a while! They released their eponymous debut in 2010 and have devoted themselves to a rather progressive black metal style a la NOCTE OBDUCTA, ORLOG or EMPEROR ever since. After the release of their EP “Agonie” in 2011, fans can indulge in DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT`s upcoming second full-length effort “Unstille” starting June 29th! The album will once more underline the uniqueness of the Würzburg-based act – and so will their appearance at EXTREMEFEST 2012!

These guys have been bathing in blood-red brutal death metal since 2007 and served it raw on albums such as “Unique Brute Revival”. Hailing from Las Vegas, GUTTURAL SECRETE will play their first EVER European shows at EXTREMEFEST, an exclusive visit in the year 2012! They offer insane music with impossible guitar riffs, and low, non effect vocals with a truly ferocious drumming straight out of hell, fast and pounding as f*ck! Their 2006 release „Reek of Pubescent Despoilment“, a jaw-dropping album, left the brutal scene speechless and devastated, the record was and still is regarded as the new hope in brutal death and highly praised. A serious highlight for all those who like their death metal brutal and the first time ever GUTTURAL SECRETE is gonna play shows on European territory! ARAFEL
They are quite the prototype of a multicultural band: ARAFEL were founded in 1997 in Tel-Aviv by immigrants from the former Sovjet Union, and in 2009 German singer Helge Stang (ex-EQUILIBRIUM) joined their ranks! The fivepiece started out as a rather traditional black metal act which evolved quickly soundwise: they christened their sound epic war metal and had quite a breakthrough with their third album „For Battles Once Fought“ in 2011! Their mixture of folk, black metal and death metal moments is gloomy, heavy, melodic – and absolutely exciting! ARAFEL gained a huge following during 2011`s PAGANFEST tour, and those folks will be happy that their faves will play the 2012 edition of the EXTREMEFEST too!
